Breadfruit Academy was born out of a simple but powerful idea: real skills come from real kitchens — not from sitting in a classroom. What started as a small, hands-on apprenticeship under the guidance of Chef Godfrey at Godfrey’s Café has grown into a movement that’s changing lives across the DMV.

Over 30 students with little to no culinary background — some starting as dishwashers — have now proudly graduated from Breadfruit Academy and are working as certified bakers, pastry chefs, and culinary professionals throughout the DMV. Their success stories prove one thing: with the right mentorship and real-world experience, anyone can rise.

At the core of our academy is Chef Godfrey, a Master Pastry Chef with over 30 years of experience, who has trained hundreds of students across the United States and even in Europe. His proven hands-on training model is the heart of everything we do — built not just on technique, but on discipline, mentorship, and the kind of confidence that only comes from real-life application.
